Now That the Bush Eulogies are Finally Subsiding, Some Ugly Truths About 41 and His Connections to 11/22/63

In 1962 CIA asset and ex-Russian royalty George DeMohrenschildt met and befriended Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas. This odd pairing of an anti-communist aristocrat and a “Marxist” loner in the city of right-wing fanaticism is even more suspicious when one considers that DeMohrenschildt was well acquainted with George H.W. “Poppy” Bush. DeMohrenschildt’s nephew, Edward Gordon Hooker, roomed with Bush at Andover in their youths. Their eastern prep-school ties aside, Bush and DeMohrenschildt, were connected as oil entrepreneurs and CIA operatives in Texas and the Caribbean in the early 1960s.  And many years after the assassination, when Bush was CIA Director and the House Select Committee on Assassinations sought to question DeMohrenschildt about his involvement with Oswald, the paths of the two Georges crossed again in a tragic way.  DeMorhenschildt was found shot to death after writing a letter to Bush about his relationship with Oswald and its importance in the assassination.

From my book, JFK and the End of America:

“The Bush family-George DeMohrenschildt relationship screams JFK assassination connection. The two Georges knew one another from their days in the Texas oil business, but after 11/22/63, H.W. appears to have cut ties with DeMohrenschildt. When Bush was appointed head of the CIA by Gerald Ford in 1976, DeMohrenschildt made an unwelcome return to Bush’s life. As the HSCA was gearing up to re-investigate the Kennedy assassination, DeMohrenschildt’s name resurfaced. The CIA under Bush, naturally, would want to suppress the Bush-DeMohrenschildt-Oswald link, but DeMohrenschildt got nervous and went public when he got spooked by mysterious government agents who began pressuring him. He got so fed up with it that he took the extraordinary measure of writing a letter to his old pal Bush. The letter, dated September 5, 1976, is written in intelligence-coded language that both Georges would have understood quite well. It contains the tone of a desperate man, begging the one person he knows can save him from his coming demise. It reads, in part, ‘Maybe you will be able to bring a solution to the hopeless situation I find myself in. My wife and I find ourselves surrounded by some vigilantes; our phone bugged; and we are being followed everywhere…[possibly by] FBI.’ What exactly prompted DeMohrenschildt’s hopeless situation? He tells Bush that, ‘I tried to write, stupidly and unsuccessfully, about Lee H. Oswald and must have angered a lot of people,’ and then implores Bush to ‘remove the net from around us.’231

When DeMohrenschildt sent the letter, he signed his own death warrant. No information could have been more dangerous to the CIA and Bush than their direct connection to the Kennedy assassination through Oswald’s best friend in Dallas before the assassination. The fact that DeMohrenschildt had attempted to reveal the truth of the assassination in his own book almost ensured that he would be called as a witness before the HSCA. Bush and the CIA could not allow this to happen.

Bush’s response to DeMohrenschildt was cordial, but sent a diabolically subtle and unmistakable message to his friend. It read, in part, ‘…my staff has been unable to find any indication of interest in your activities on the part of Federal authorities in recent years…I believe I can appreciate your state of mind in view of your daughter’s death a few years ago and the current poor state of your wife’s health.’232 Translation: The CIA has checked into your matter, and has found nothing to support your allegations that government agents are targeting you or that your life is in danger. It must all be a figment of your imagination due to your deteriorating mental condition, caused by your daughter’s death and your wife’s poor health. Contacting me was a huge mistake.

After reading Bush’s response, DeMohrenschildt must have deduced two things for certain: 1) He could expect no help from Bush and the CIA. He was out in the cold, and they were not going to bring him back in; and 2) His days were numbered.

DeMohrenschildt fled for Europe and stayed there until the spring of 1977. Upon returning to the U.S., he was scheduled to appear before the HSCA which sent an investigator to DeMohrenschildt’s Florida residence. That very day, DeMohrenschildt was found shot to death in his home; a shotgun was found nearby. It was ruled a suicide by police, but his wife Jeanne, the former Jeanne LeGon who worked with Abraham Zapruder at Nardi’s in Dallas, vehemently disputed this. A year later she had the courage to speak freely to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She stated that her husband George had not committed suicide and that Oswald was a government agent who had not killed the President. She also implied that the CIA had killed Kennedy.233

Found in DeMohrenschildt’s belongings was the address of ‘Bush, George H.W., 1412 W. Ohio also Zapata Petroleum, Midland, Texas.’234 This was not the only JFK suspect who was found dead with Bush’s information on his person. CIA pilot and drug runner Barry Seal, who may have flown a getaway plane out of Dallas on 11/22/63, had George Bush’s private phone number in his pocket when found shot to death.”

Excerpt from my latest book, “JFK and the End of America”

The Kennedy assassination was just one of the many catastrophic attacks on the stability of American democracy that Bush and his family have been right in the thick of. Prescott and his partners, including the Dulles brothers and their clients, made a fortune from funding the rise of the Third Reich.  George H.W. helped organize and finance the Bay of Pigs.  He was instrumental in convincing Nixon to resign just days before he did. And in 1980, in an attempt to get himself and Ronald Reagan elected, Bush made a deal with the Iranians to delay the release of the American hostages until after the 1980 U.S. elections. Heinrich Rupp, another Nazi war criminal who went to work for the CIA after World War II, accompanied Bush, Vice Presidential candidate at the time, to Paris to meet with Iranian officials in the fall of 1980. The “October surprise” sank the Carter reelection bid and secured the election for the Reagan-Bush ticket; just months later, Bush almost gained the throne when Reagan was shot. The hostages were released on January 20, 1981, only minutes after Reagan and Bush were sworn into office. In return, Rupp promised release of Iran’s frozen assets, laying the groundwork for the Iran-Contra deal. So Rupp, the Paperclip Nazi, helped steal an election, control U.S. foreign policy, and precipitate one of the worst scandals of the 1980s.

As Vice President, Bush played a prominent role in the looting of Savings and Loans in the 1980s—covering up for the bad guys and making a tidy sum for all his crooked cronies. (Hyman Roth’s line from Godfather II comes to mind, “I always make money for my partners.”)  And, of course, George W., Bush’s son, was president when the 9/11 attacks occurred. W. himself may have been in Dealey Plaza on 11/22/63. One of the photos of the aftermath of the assassination depicts a young man bearing a stunning resemblance to W., 17 years old at the time, crossing Elm Street towards Houston sometime that afternoon. (W. was a prep student at the time, but might have been home on break.) There is no definitive proof that the Bushes were there, beyond the photographic speculation; however, H.W. Bush’s subsequent attitude and remarks about 11/22/63 cast doubt on his innocence.

Does the Bushes’ mere proximity to these events make them guilty? Maybe not, but whenever something horrible has happened to America in the last century, the Bushes should be one of the first families investigated.  Their labyrinthine connections to a subterranean world of oilmen, defense contractors, intelligence chiefs, ex-Nazis, drug dealers and international financiers create the appearance that they are at the heart of a secret empire that operates without oversight to manipulate and control the destiny of America for their own gain and the gain of their partners in the clandestine enterprise.  Their shrewd employment of tradecraft and deception and their close association with immense power brokers have kept them immune from prosecution of any sort; still, their dirty dealings are more than obvious to the critical eye.

The Bush family-George DeMohrenschildt relationship alone screams JFK assassination connection. The Last Serious Journalist In America Speaks Out On the Bushes, the JFK Assassination, the Secret Parallel Government, and the Complacent Media Who Let the 1% Rule Everything

Someone once said that in a capitalistic society, where the super-rich reign over everyone else, truth is the first casualty. Never was this more true than in America today. Corporate-allied media is loathe to seriously investigate any event which might lead straight back to their bosses as the culprits. Thus, it is hard to find the truth of serious matters in current or recent American history being broadcast or printed anywhere. However, I have found a source that is breaking new ground in authentic journalism; it’s a website called WhoWhatWhy, led by editor-in-chief Russ Baker, whose stunning book “Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America’s Invisible Government, And The Hidden History Of The Last 50 Years” is a read I highly recommend. Recently Baker was interviewed by Joan Brunwasser in a piece that was published on OpEd News. I have reprinted portions of it here:

JB: So, did they [the Boston Globe] do some long-overdue serious investigative journalism? And what is this secret “double government” exactly? Whatever it is, it doesn’t sound good, that’s for sure.

RB: Naw, but they did run a couple of pieces about a book by a “respectable” person starting to edge into the territory we’ve been blazing for several years—the idea that while we put all our attention on what the president and Congress do and don’t do there’s a whole other apparatus calling the shots. It’s that old combo Ike warned about—the one percent and their allies in the permanent part of government—intel agencies, Pentagon, bureaucracy throughout.

JB: Tell us a bit more about the “respectable” book and author that launched the Globe’s about-face. We need something to sink our teeth into, beyond generalizations about the evils of the 1%.

RB: A Tufts professor wrote a book on the “Double Government.” I haven’t read it yet, but his thrust is that a president’s will can easily be thwarted by the non-elected part of Washington. The point for me is that the mainstream media is willing to embrace critiques that get beyond the fantasy of a viable democracy where we choose our leaders and they do our bidding. What’s generally missing, even probably from his book, is the notion that it is not really the “double government” that drives things, but private capital. And then we begin to come to terms with why we never seem to get what we want—or what we are promised by the pols.

JB: Is there a tie-in between this reputed “Double Government” and the Bushes, the subject of your 2010 book, Family of Secrets? If so, what is it?

RB: Well, I haven’t read the professor’s book yet, but I highly doubt he mentions the Bushes in any detail. Academia generally shies away from anything too controversial. But I’d say the Bushes themselves embody the notion that elected officials are only successful to the extent they have deep links into the Double Government—and funding and support from…ahem…the Triple Government. My research for Family of Secrets really underlined the extent to which secret events and alliances shape our country’s course constantly.

JB: Well, that’s certainly a teaser, Russ. What are you referring to? Can you give us something more concrete to sink our teeth into, to mix a metaphor? It could ultimately cause a groundswell of interest in your book, you know!

RB: Well, what I found is difficult to sum up in just a few sentences, because the facts are so incredibly disturbing, and run so counter to what we’ve been told up to this point. There’s a fantasy in this country that our politicians, as occasionally criticized as they are, fundamentally are gentlemen and gentlewomen. We treat them like celebrities or royalty. But power accrual and wielding is an ugly business, more akin to other lines of work that are about ruthlessness. Anyway, handicapped by not being able to present my thousand-plus footnotes here, I’ll just present a few particulars on the Bush clan:
Bush 41, HW Bush, was in the secret employ of the intelligence services decades before he was appointed as a supposed newcomer, to the CIA directorship. Among other things, he was part of a group, inside and outside CIA, that felt threatened by JFK and furious at him. He hid the fact that he was in Dallas the day Kennedy was shot. He was a good friend of Lee Oswald’s mentor. He was mentioned in FBI documents related to the assassination and to Cuban exiles who were enraged at Kennedy.

He and his family were, secretly, principal sponsors of Richard Nixon’s career. But when Nixon tried to buck his handlers, they turned on him. The real story of Watergate is the framing of Nixon by others in the Republican camp.

JB: Hold on a second, Russ. Why did Bush and Co. want to get rid of Nixon? Didn’t they like him initially?

RB: I devote three chapters of Family of Secrets to unraveling the mystery of the relationship between Nixon and George H.W. Bush. I spent a long time investigating—discovered they anointed him to be the pawn of banking interests, but over the years he chafed at being dominated. Then he began seriously challenging the corporate folks. And then he was out.

JB: I had no idea. That’s quite a backstory. Sorry for the interruption. I was just curious. Nixon was such a nemesis in American history.

RB: No problem. Also: The Bushes, including George W., were up to their elbows in bizarre massive money movements and odd companies that never seemed to be about actually turning a profit—populated by the Shah of Iran, the Saudis, Ferdinand Marcos, Harvard University, and other rogues and mainstays.
Much more on this in Family of Secrets—about 600 pages of this kind of stuff. Enjoy!

JB: Yikes! 600 pages of “this kind of stuff”? I’m not sure that “enjoy” is the operative word here. What happens with all these explosive revelations? The Bushes seem pretty impervious to major scandal or outrage which this might have engendered in years past. How has your blockbuster been received? Has the corporate media just ignored you? Does everything just get swept under the rug?

RB: The corporate media—and so-called “progressive” and “alternative” news sources as well—have almost completely ignored these discoveries. Why? Laziness and discomfiture with major openings that could fundamentally shift our understanding of how things work. Everyone’s in on the game of “left-right” that keeps members of the public at each other’s throats while the one percent of one percent of one percent keeps on driving the train.

JB: Based on what you’ve said and what I’ve read, how are things shaping up with the Bush Co. vis a vis 2016? Are we in for, God forbid, a permanent Bush-run, Republican dynasty?

RB: I would say that, due in large part to a complacent and docile media, plus a public with little long-term memory, we are very likely in for a third President Bush, aka Jeb. And, if I were to peer into a crystal ball, I’d say that in a dozen years or so we might see a fourth President Bush, in the person of Jeb’s son, George P. Bush. Just elected overwhelmingly to state office in Texas! Half-Hispanic! That will wow the same media that brought us Barack Obama.

JB: If that’s the case, do you worry that your work will be some day burned, banned or outlawed? Has everything you’ve learned so far caused you to pretty much given up on our restoring any semblance of a true democratic system or do you somehow hang on to a bit of cautious optimism?

RB: I am always alert that things can go very bad very quickly in any society. I do see signs of that possibility here. The Boston Bombing with the related apparent cover-up, harassment of witnesses, passivity of the media, tolerance of disappearing public rights to privacy and inquiry into law enforcement actions—this kind of situation is deeply disturbing. At the same time, I see the rise of a vigilant opposing sector, and remain both hopeful and energized—because, what option do we have?

JFK Conspiracy Fact #3: The Incredible George DeMohrenschildt: The Man Who Knew Everyone In The JFK Case

If you want to know how and why Lee Harvey Oswald was set up to take the fall in the assassination of JFK, and if you want to know who are the most likely suspects to have pulled off THE crime of the 20th century, all you have to do is trace the actions of one George DeMohrenschildt, CIA covert asset, oil geologist, Russian royalty, and international man of mystery.  It can be said, with only the slightest bit of exaggeration, that DeMohrenschildt knew everyone involved in The Big Hit.  In fact, for a time he was Lee Harvey Oswald’s best friend in Dallas, and he was also good friends with the Bush family.  But I get ahead of myself.  Let’s start in the beginning.

Descended from Russian royalty, DeMohrenschildt came to the U.S. when his family was exiled during the Revolution.  When the czar was kicked out, so were all his cronies—George’s family among them.  Accordingly, DeMohrenschildt grew up with an abiding hatred of Communism, and early on associated himself with fringe right-wing groups and causes in America.  And in the meantime he got himself an advanced degree in geology, with a specialty in underground exploration for oil.  This made him a valuable asset to American oil millionaires who needed to know where to drill.  It did not hurt that George’s politics were quite agreeable to oil tycoons like H.L. Hunt, Clint Murchison, Syd Richardson, and D.H. Byrd for whom he worked at various times.

DeMohrenschildt made some advantageous contacts as a favorite of oil boomers.  One of them was George H.W. Bush.  It was through Bush that DeMohrenschildt became a CIA covert asset.  Traveling the world to find oil gushers for the wealthy was good cover for a CIA asset to spy on friendlies and unfriendlies around the globe.   Bush knew all the right people to get DeMohrenschildt hooked up with the spy agency.  The Bushes and the Dulleses went way back, and Allen Dulles was CIA Director from 1953-1961.  George Bush denies having known DeMohrenschildt more than just as a passing acquaintance, but there is ample evidence to prove otherwise.

DeMohrenschildt was  well acquainted with the Bush family. DeMohrenschildt’s nephew, Eddie Hooker, had been George H.W. Bush’s prep school roommate at Phillips Academy in Massachusetts. DeMohrenschildt and Hooker went into the oil business in West Texas in the 1950s, the same time that Bush was working there as a Dresser Industries employee.  Speaking of Dresser Industries, it was closely aligned with a fashion/sportwear business in Dallas called Nardi’s.  DeMohrenschildt’s wife Jeanne worked at Nardi’s in the 1950s alongside Abraham Zapruder.  Yes, that Zapruder…the man who made the most infamous home movie of all time.  While Jeanne designed the clothing, Abe cut the patterns.  Think about that for a moment.  The man who filmed the murder of JFK worked closely with the wife of the accused assassin’s best friend.  My head hurts.  And the only people in the world who think this was just an incredible coincidence worked for either the Warren Commission or the American media.

The DeMohrenschildt family was steeped in an intelligence background.  George’s older brother Dmitri worked, on many occasions, with Allen Dulles of the OSS/CIA.  George himself knew, and did business with, the Rockefellers, George Brown of Brown and Root, and the William F. Buckley family which owned Pantepec Oil.  When DeMohrenschildt moved to Dallas in 1952 he joined the Dallas Petroleum Club and the Council on Foreign Relations; both organizations’ memberships lists read like a who’s who of Kennedy assassination suspects.  (Incredibly, DeMohrenschildt was also friends with the Bouviers, JFK’s in-laws, though this seems to be the one true coincidental connection in this matter.)

One of DeMohrenschildt’s most dangerous CIA assignments (one that he certainly would have refused had he known the consequences) was “shepherding” or “setting up” Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas in 1962-63.  DeMohrenschildt was chosen for the job because of his fluency in the Russian language and his knowledge of Russian culture.  Oswald, having lived in Russia on a low-level, false-defector mission for the CIA, was naturally drawn to DeMohrenschildt’s acumen in all things Russian.  DeMohrenschildt advised Oswald on all important matters before eventually passing off the patsy Oswald to Ruth Paine, another member of the White Russian community in Dallas with CIA ties.  Paine let Marina and the Oswald kids board in her home, which Lee visited on weekends.  Paine went out of her way to implicate Oswald in JFK’s murder. Meanwhile, DeMohrenschildt flew off to Haiti to do CIA business with dictator Papa Doc Duvalier.  This move also distanced DeMohrenschildt from the events of November 22, 1963.

Inevitably, DeMohrenschildt’s name came up in the Warren Commission hearings.  If Oswald’s associates had not been questioned, the Commission would have been exposed as the sham that we now know it was.  It was hardly a rough interrogation, though, as DeMohrenschildt was asked about his remarkable suntan and then dismissed.  Warren Commission member Allen Dulles, who certainly knew DeMohrenschildt, cleverly steered the questioning away from the most dangerous areas.

That would have been the end of it, and the trail would have gone cold, except that a couple of FBI memos addressing George H.W. Bush’s involvement in the aftermath of the assassination surfaced.  The memos refer to “George Bush” of the CIA having reported on anti-Castro community activity post-assassination and having named a suspect to be questioned.  But Bush has always denied being a CIA employee in 1963.  Oops…Bush got caught practicing spycraft (plausible deniability for being in Dallas the day Kennedy was murdered and snooping on a group of likely suspects).  Naturally serious investigators raised the suspiciousness of the Bush-DeMohrenschildt-Oswald connection. According to author Russ Baker (Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America’s Invisible Government, And The Hidden History Of The Last 50 Years),  “…in the spring of 1963, immediately after his final communication with Oswald, DeMohrenschildt had traveled to New York and Washington for meetins with CIA and military intelligence officials.  He even had met with a top aide to Vice President Johnson.  And the [Warren] commission certainly did not learn that one meeting in New York included Thomas Devine, then Poppy Bush’s business colleague in Zapata offshore, who was doing double duty for the CIA.”

After JFK’s murder, Bush, for obvious reasons, claims to have barely known DeMohrenschildt, but DeMohrenschildt did not reciprocate these feelings. When he was being hounded about his associations with Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, DeMohrenschildt wrote a letter to his old pal Bush, who just happened to be head of the CIA at the time. The letter reeks of desperation.  DeMohrenschildt claimed his phones were bugged and he was being followed by “vigilantes.”  “Either the FBI is involved in this or they do not want to accept my complaints; I tried to write stupidly and unsuccessfully about Lee Harvey Oswald,” writes DeMohrenschildt. At the time, he knew he was in trouble because he was threatening to expose what he knew about JFK’s assassination.

Just a few months later DeMohrenschildt was found shot to death on the very day he was scheduled to be interviewed by the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1977. The death was ruled a “suicide by shotgun blast.” Found in DeMohrenschildt’s belongings was the address and phone number of “Bush, George H.W., 1412 W. Ohio also Zapata Petroleum, Midland, Texas.” I guess Bush answered DeMohrenschildt’s letter after all. It is noteworthy that DeMohrenschildt was acquainted with most, if not all, the major suspects in the JFK assassination.  He befriended Dallas oil barons, he worked as a covert asset for the CIA, he set up Lee Harvey Oswald, and he even knew Lyndon Johnson.

I am still trying to make a connection between DeMohrenschildt and  the Joint Chiefs, specifically Curtis LeMay (This is not so far-fetched; recall DeMohrenschildt’s meeting with military intelligence officials in Washington in the spring of 1963.); then his association with the suspect list would be complete.  In Watergate, Deep Throat advised Woodward to follow the money.  In the JFK murder case, one need only follow George DeMohrenschildt to track the outline of the plot.

JFK Conspiracy Fact #4: The Suspects’ Own Words And The Words Of Others Indict The Guilty

JFK Conspiracy Fact #4: The Suspects’ Own Words And The Words Of Others Indict The Guilty

What follows is my list of the prime suspects in the murder of President Kennedy and the incriminating statements by them or others who knew them very well—

1)      The CIA and the Pentagon

”…as Kennedy’s [peace] speech reached out to Kruschev, it opened a still wider chasm between the president and his own military and intelligence advisers.  To the Pentagon and the CIA, the president’s words of peace at American University seemed to put him on the enemy’s list.”

–from JFK And The Unspeakable, by James Douglass

“One very high American official here, a man who has spent much of his life in the service of democracy, likened the CIA’s growth to a malignancy, and added he was not sure even the White House could control it any longer.

Unquestionably Mr. McNamara and Gen. Maxwell Taylor both got an earful from people who are beginning to fear the CIA is becoming a Third Force co-equal with President Diem’s regime and the U.S. Government – and answerable to neither.  If the U.S. ever experiences a military takeover, it will come from the CIA, and not the Pentagon.”

–from an article by Richard Starnes in the Washington Daily News, October 2, 1963

       2)   Lyndon Johnson and John Connally

“He [Yarborough] described how Connally and Johnson were screwing him; worse, he said they’d be after John Kennedy in a minute if they thought they could get away with it.”

–from Advance Man, by Jerry Bruno

       3) Allen Dulles

“That little Kennedy, he thought he was a god.”

–spoken by Allen Dulles to his collaborator Willie Morris of Harper’s

for an unpublished manuscript “The Confessions of Allen Dulles”

       4) David Atlee Phillips, Frank Sturgis, David Morales, Lucein Sarti, William Harvey

All implicated in E. Howard Hunt’s deathbed confession.

–from Rolling Stone article of April 2007

       5) George H.W. Bush and George DeMohrenschildt

“Maybe you will be able to bring a solution into the hopeless situation I find myself in.  My wife and I find ourselves surrounded by some vigilantes; our phone bugged; and we are being followed everywhere…I tried to write, stupidly and unsuccessfully, about Lee H. Oswald and must have angered a lot of people.  Could you do something to remove this net around us?  This will be my last request for help and I will not annoy you any more.”

–letter from George DeMohrenschildt to his good friend George H.W. Bush who was Director of the CIA at the time.  DeMohrenschildt was Oswald’s best friend in Dallas.  Shortly after this letter was written, DeMohrenschildt was found shot to death on the very day he was scheduled to testify to the House Select Committee on Assassinations .

6) Curtis LeMay

“Those goddamn Kennedys are gonna destroy this country if we don’t do something about this!”

                                            –from the movie Thirteen Days

JFK Conspiracy Fact #46: George H.W. Bush Has A Lot To Answer For

One of the suspects in any honest investigation of JFK’s murder should be George H.W. Bush.  Bush had many tangential and direct ties to the events in Dallas on November 22, 1963.  Most suspiciously, Bush and accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald had a common friend–George DeMohrenschildt.  DeMohrenschildt, a covert CIA agent and an international oil geologist, was Lee Harvey Oswald’s “mentor” in Dallas.  He introduced Oswald to the White Russian community in Dallas, including Ruth Paine who secured Oswald a job in the Texas School Book Depository.
DeMohrenschildt was also well acquainted with the Bush family.
